So I was totally wrong. My first thought – and I thought it was the right thought – was that studying involves so much time and to learn anything we have to burn the midnight oil. I was pretty sure that the connection between an owl and studying is quite obvious – we are night owls during study days. It didn’t come to my mind that the point is “as wise as an owl”. But maybe both explanations are correct, aren’t they?
